OUR PROGRAMS
COMMUNITY PROGRAM
Big Brothers Big Sisters' traditional one-to-one mentoring program matches adult volunteers (Bigs) with youth (Littles) aged 7-17, forming "Long and Strong" Relationships. This program provides vital support to overcome social and academic challenges, set goals, develop resilience, and broaden life experiences. Matches typically spend two outings each month, with 4-6 hours spent together during these low- or no-cost activities near the mentee's home, making them convenient and accessible.
SITE-BASED PROGRAM
Our Site-Based mentoring program is conveniently located at school sites in Port Chester and Yonkers. Matches have the opportunity to spend quality time together after school, engaging in various structured activities, including homework help, art projects, games, career exploration, and valuable one-on-one interactions.
The program provides a comfortable and professional setting, ensuring that matches can foster meaningful relationships. It also includes workshops for older Littles, encouraging vocational development and the acquisition of essential job-related skills. Participants are invited to join and unlock their potential for growth and success!
WAITLIST EVENTS
During our matching process, some of our Littles, especially the boys, may spend time on our waitlist. While we find the perfect Big, we plan monthly group events, including bingo, bowling, etc., to help the families become acquainted with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
